What I wore: 6 – 12 January

I want to try a new format this year, namely a weekly “What I wore” post. I love my many many clothes, but we never quite seem to find the time to shoot more outfit posts. If I give a weekly outfit summary, it might be okay to use mobile phone pictures that I take in front of our big mirror – right between two closets, in a little hallway between our bedroom and the bathroom. Canavar also usually tries to sneak into the photos. He is just too curious and wants to know at all times what I am doing, haha.

Recently, I have quite liked my outfit choices. I think I have put more thought into dressing since I moved to Manhattan. I mean I have even put more effort into looks in general. Or in the words of my hairdresser: “Oh god, it was time you came. I can see all that grey hair.” But depending on the weekday, my agenda and the weather, I dress differently. I have casual and formal outfits. This is also something I like about my job. As a teacher there isn’t any strict dress code (there was one in Istanbul though). My clothes are a mix of older and newer pieces. Many basics are from cheaper stores like Primark (I just love their fleece leggings for winter). I tend to buy more expensive clothes on sale and/or at sample sales, stores like T.J.Maxx, Nordstrom Rack, etc.

So without further ado, let’s start my first weekly post of “What I wore”.

What I wore: 6 - 12 January - janavar

Monday: First day back to school in the new year. I am always nervous/excited and sleep badly this last night so that I already chose my outfit the evening before. I wore: Sandro sweater dress (old, from thrift shop, similar*), Primark fleece leggings (similar*), Unionbay shoes (old).

Wednesday: This is always my longest and busiest day at work. I have few breaks and am really tired when I get home – usually I leave home at 7 a.m. and get back between 7 and 7.30 p.m. I wore: The Fifth Label Atlanta dress (version with short sleeves*), Primark cardigan (old, similar*), Primark tights, Vince Camuto boots (old, very similar*), earrings (old).

Thursday: This also was a long day with several longer breaks. It was a rather cold day so that I chose warm clothes and boots padded with sheepskin. I wore: Mango sweater dress (old), Primark fleece leggings (similar*), Blondo boots (old), dinosaur earrings*.
