Just like that my first week of summer vacation is over. It started with me unpacking lots of boxes after I had moved into my new studio here in Cambridge last weekend. After the professional moving company had failed both to turn up and to cancel. Thank god for amazing friends who helped me on Sunday morning before 6 a.m. to move my last pieces of furniture. The studio is pretty, is even more centrally located than the previous apartment, and for now I have finished setting everything up. But it is also bittersweet that for the last almost three years I wished to live alone with the cat – and now that I managed this, I am not genuinely happy. And so I spent most of this week in New York City, which again made my cat quite angry. He has been complaining loudly ever since I returned today in the early afternoon. He doesn’t yet know that, unfortunately, I’ll leave soon to fly to Germany – and I am not yet sure how long that trip is going to last.
