This week was a great mix of socializing and introverting. Somewhere between taking plenty of naps together with the kittens and meeting actual people in real life. My most important appointment was the biometrical one on Friday afternoon. I needed to go to the Manhattan USCIS office for them to take my photo and fingerprints. Another step towards my Green Card or, more importantly, my work authorization and travel permit. Moreover I needed that appointment before I could apply for an expedite processing of my the work permit – they now decide if they comply with my request. Fingers crossed. It is 3.5 weeks until the start of the new school year and I would rather start on the first day of school as well. Then again, everything for Rich and me always seems to take longer than expected. Like our three attempts to get married. Or our six week delay when buying our apartment. Or in other words: when our lawyer submitted my Green Card application at the start of April, it was supposed to take 4.5 to 5 months to receive the work permit. Waiting times were recently adjusted: it now takes 8.5 to 9 months. Yippee-ki-yay …
