Week in review: 10 – 16 February 2020

Can I just say how exhausted I am?! Tomorrow is the last day of my winter vacation (we get an extra day thanks to President’s Day), but I don’t feel recovered. I did so many things this week that had to be done.

Like filing taxes – and there is hardly any better feeling than receiving notice that all your tax returns have been accepted within a few hours after submitting them. Thanks to my move last year, I had to file federal taxes and then for two states. I still prefer the American system over the German where it took me more like four weeks than two hours to enter everything. My bank account is definitely looking forward to getting some money back.

We also did many wedding preparations this week. After a lot of online research I walked into Bloomingdales, picked one dress, put it on, loved it, and bought it. That was easy. I am now looking for shoes though and who would have thought that it is so hard to find shiny silver sandals made of leather with an at least 3 inch heel?! It also took longer to buy a nice suit for my boyfriend than it took me to find my dress. And it took a two hour call with my parents to book them flights to New York City and a hotel.

It seems to me that wedding preparations are an exhausting business. And I am greatful that I have had this week off, but we are so not done. We still have a long list with things to do. Oh, and my engagement ring is still not ready. This makes me rather grumpy because it takes a little too long for my liking.

But tomorrow we will hopefully just sleep in and deal with normal things. I can’t wait.
