Week in review: 6 – 12 November 2017

On Friday I blogged while being on the bus from Boston to NYC, right now I am on the bus back home. In between I had a fantastic long weekend in New York City. Minus the snoring guy in my hostel dorm last night, whom I woke up after a few hours. Okay, after four hours that I had tried to fall asleep without any success. He snored that loud and without any break that I heard him despite earphones and music. I am still not sure if it was okay that I woke him up. Any thoughts?

Otherwise, everything was fun though. The Rockefeller Christmas Tree was set up yesterday [last year I went to the tree lighting]. The ice rinks all over Manhattan are open now, and the shops play the first Christmas songs of the year. On both evenings I discovered cool bars with friends. I enjoyed the workshops I attended on Saturday and that took place in the German Consulate. The consulate is very close to the U.N. and from its upper floors we had an amazing view. This morning I took a long walk through Central Park. It was sunny, and the air somewhere between fall and winter. I slowly made my way up to the MET where I had last been almost five years ago. I love their collections from the ancient world(s), but also like their current Rodin exhibition. This afternoon I met with one of my graduates from Istanbul, who now lives in NYC, and we had an early dinner – I would have never guessed that there is a good Turkish restaurant in the middle of Manhattan.

Now I cannot wait to arrive home and cuddle with Canavar. Actually, we’ll probably go straight to sleep because the week is going to be busy at work. And there are other tasks like I have to pick up my car from the garage tomorrow after work. They called me yesterday and said they fixed it.

Oh, and in only 9 days I’m going to Montreal.
