Week in review: 30 August – 5 September 2021

When it rains, it pours. This weekend we wanted to go away and relax in the Pocono Mountains. But when I wanted to pick up my car on Friday, it wouldn’t start. With the help of a nice AAA service person, it became clear that the problem wasn’t the battery, but more likely the alternator. So instead of us having a change of scenery for a few days, the car is now waiting to be towed to an auto repair shop.

In order to cheer me up, Rich went with me to the only Aldi in Manhattan yesterday. It turned out that we now live quite conveniently right next to a bus line taking us there directly. I can’t believe we hadn’t been to that Aldi before. Granted it was super busy on a Saturday morning, but I loved our trip to the German supermarket. I stocked up on my favorite cookies and chocolates as well as on many basic groceries. We returned home with two full hiking backpacks and one hand luggage suitcase. The suitcase at least served its purpose this weekend after all.
