Another week gone by. Actually also another year because it was my birthday yesterday. Most of that year was actually great. I moved to Manhattan. I started a new job I absolutely love. We got engaged. As in the first 9 1/2 months were awesome. And then from March on it went downhill. We had to stay at home thanks to Coronavirus. We had to postpone our wedding. We got sick with Covid-19. It is also a little funny because when I think about it shit usually hits the fan around April in my life. So I guess I should have known better than to plan an April wedding.
Right now things are looking up again. We try to spend a lot of time outside. It looks like we carry a certain immunity. And my birthday was great despite us not being able to meet any friends. In the afternoon we walked to Bryant Park and had coffee and a giant Belgium waffle there. Rich made a giant amount of sushi for dinner and on top even ordered three different desserts from a restaurant. Oh, and presents of course. Amongst other things Rich gave me noise canceling headphones – I guess I have complained a few too many times about him talking in a video call while I also tried to teach via video conference at the same time in the same room. My favorite gift (I think) is a big light box that I can’t wait to play with for taking photos. Even without my friends my birthday was a great day.

|Clicked| a beautiful account of life in Istanbul these days: In Istanbul Under Lockdown, Baklava Makers Are Essential Workers; I love Lina Mallon’s book on staying in a cabin during lockdown in South Africa – she publishes it chapter by chapter: 21 Days – Chapter 0/21; this looks like a fun recipe: Homemade Cinnamon Toast Crunch.; I had never heard of stuffed French toast before, but will definitely give it a try: Classic Stuffed French Toast
