I wasn’t as successful with my daily walks through Manhattan last week. I walked only 18.35 km and cycled another 4.5 km. The main reason for this decrease in distance though was that I stayed at home on Friday and Saturday.
During my walk on Thursday I bought and drank a mango margarita in Hell’s Kitchen. Now I don’t know how much alcohol was really in there, despite it being real cheap at $7, but it totally knocked me down. We had a big dinner once I got home and I drank at least a liter of water, but it didn’t help much. I felt so drunk that I had to go to bed early and felt quite hungover on Friday morning. On a positive note, we now all know that on get drunk for very little money in Hell’s Kitchen.
The other reason why I stayed at home those two days was that my allergies bugged me a lot. If you have followed me for longer, you already know that I have had sinus problems for years and they eventually figured out that it’s all caused by an allergy – against something nobody knows. Last week it got so bad that I couldn’t sleep half the night because I couldn’t breathe through my nose despite taking antihistamines and nasal spray. I finally feel better this week.
All in all, I still enjoy my almost daily walks a lot. They are so relaxing and I always discover new corners.
Monday: A walk to Koreatown

Koreatown is normally busy and much more colorful

The corner at Macy’s and Herald’s Square
Tuesday: A walk through Murray Hill with Canavar

Canavar received much attention that day
Wednesday: A bike tour to Chinatown, then a walk through Little Italy and back home

The entrance to Manhattan Bridge on the Manhattan side

Chinatown is also totally empty these days

Another street in Chinatown

Suddenly there was a mariachi band in the middle of Chinatown

The entrance to beautiful Little Italy
Thursday: A walk through Midtown to Hell’s Kitchen and back

Homeless people and their belongings seem much more visible now that the City is so empty

The liquor shop knows how to motivate us 🙂
