As you might be able to tell from the lack of new posts on my blog this week, I didn’t feel that well on most days. While the baby moved away from my ischiatic nerve so that I can move without pain, she also moved right onto my stomach. For several days I had stomach issues and didn’t even feel like eating. Our ultrasound appointment on Friday also showed that she had made herself comfortable in breech position.
But I can also happily say that she finally spun around a little more yesterday. That’s what you get for having a doctor as husband: you quickly learn to identify the head by touch. So today I could finally eat again as normally as ever (or as during the recent months).
The other thing my mind was busy with this week was the Omicron variant. New York (State and City) has seen a big increase in infections and it makes me feel more anxious. While we got the booster shot a while ago, chances now seem much higher to still get a breakthrough infection. Also, NYC just felt a little more normal again and I would hate if things closed down once more. I am actually grateful we went to see the Christmas Spectacular already because the show shut down for the rest of the season. We also went on a date night on Thursday and saw Cirque du Soleil “‘Twas the Night Before Christmas” and I couldn’t help but wonder if that might be our last show for a while.
On the other hand, people in the City are cautious and a big majority is fully vaccinated. When I didn’t feel well, we used an at home test just in case (also having a doctor as husband means somebody sticks the swab up your nose just as high and painfully as they do in the hospital) – thank god, the test was negative. We are also going to get a PCR test before we meet Rich’s family for Christmas next weekend. So hopefully all goes well until the end of 2021.
