Week in review: 1 – 7 November 2021

It is November and chilly temperatures have arrived even in the City. I am grateful for our central heating system that keeps our big apartment warm, even though we only have two radiators. Our cats still cover themselves with our big fleece blanket before they take their long naps.

This week I watched my first Hallmark Christmas movie of the season. I just felt like it was time. While I know that Thanksgiving is coming up soon, all the stores here are already decorated for Christmas. Bryant Park has already opened their winter village including the ice rink. Last winter I went skating there regularly (until I broke my wrist). Now I am contemplating if I should try to ice-skate at least once just for the fun of it. Then again, my body’s center of gravity has definitely changed a lot recently and I am not sure if the skating would be as easy …

Besides, this was NYC Marathon weekend. For me it was the first time to go and watch the runners. We went up to 59th Street this morning and saw the winners arriving. That was pretty cool! Rich ran this marathon a few years ago. And I am way too lazy to even consider that. I prefer cheering and enjoying the positive energy. It feels as if NYC is slowly back to normal and that itself is worth a lot.
