Hello, I am Jana and a Manhattanite.
As you might guess just to write this one short sentence means that one of my life goals has come true. For six days we have now lived in our beautiful Midtown apartment and I still can’t fully grasp that this is real. By this I mean my boyfriend, Canavar and I finally living together; us having a (for East Coast terms) affordable apartment right in the center of the City; the apartment being bigger than any of the ones we lived in recently; having nice neighbors who actually talk to me (and this is a first for me in the U.S.); having amazing and helpful doormen (although this is something that might take us a while to get used to having); …
It was immensely stressful to get to this point though and, to be honest, our beautiful apartment is still a bit chaotic. But we are slowly getting there. There are mainly only boxes with my clothes (ok, and one with all my nail polishes) standing around and we’ll need a few more pieces of furniture to be fully done.
When I wake up in the morning though, I disregard all the things that still need to be done. Instead I pull up the window shade, get myself a cup of coffee and look right down at a wonderful Lexington Avenue junction. There is a little cafe opposite that seems always busy. Lots of people walk their tiny fluffy dogs. There are always a few policemen around directing the traffic. And I just sit there, enjoy my coffee, take everything in and am thrilled that we now live here.
