So much for an unexcited start into 2019 … This morning I wanted to take a photo of Canavar because he looked especially cute while lying on the kitchen table (don’t ask – but yes, he is allowed almost anywhere and I’m so used to it that I leave the table usually empty). Anyway, my camera didn’t start. I tried to switch it off and on several times, which didn’t work. I checked the battery and the spare battery, both of them fully charged. But my camera remained dead. And it had worked fine only three days ago. I broke the last camera I owned by dropping it in Toronto in summer 2017, which was very painful. But at least when I then bought this one, I also took out an insurance. Then I was unable to find the receipt today. I can’t remember where I put it when I moved. So I just showed up with my broken camera in the photo shop in the afternoon. Fortunately they could find my insurance in their computer and are now sending the camera in.
I am aware that there are way more expensive DSLRs out there, but for me the Canon 80D was a major purchase. At the time it was together with the spare battery and the insurance almost as much as my car. Therefore I am even happier now that I didn’t skimp on the insurance part. The timing of course is also lucky. I am not on vacation anymore and it is another six weeks until the next. On the other hand, it makes me even more aware and immensely happy that the next vacation is already in sight. Let’s hope that my poor little camera is repaired until then. Oh, and that this is only rather negative incidence at the start of this new year.
