Week in review: 20 – 26 September 2021

This week I felt a bit like a good house-wife from ca. 1950. One day Rich had forgotten his lunch at home. So I reminded him and then walked over to his hospital to bring him the food. A bit like in those old books when the wife took the food to her husband who was working in the fields. I also spent most of Thursday in the kitchen. We have so many apples thanks to our apple picking that it felt like a good opportunity to make apfelstrudel. Unfortunately, my granny’s recipe is elaborate and it takes several hours. So I decided to make 4 strudels at once since I was already in the kitchen. While they turned out well, it still made me aware of how much time I spent in the kitchen that day. And because I was already in the flow, I also made dinner (stuffed pumpkins) afterwards.

I guess the problem is that I never saw myself as a house-wife. As a teacher I used to have enough vacation to enjoy my time at home. But for the rest of the year it was also great to have a daily work routine. Cooking at least makes me feel productive. As does blogging – if you couldn’t tell yet 🙂 . For now it seems I just have to look for new projects.
