In April Sephora had their bi-annual discount weeks. Since I spent three weeks of that month in bed, I felt like splurging a little (okay, quite a lot) on beauty products. Something to make me happy. And it worked. I swear. First there was the fun of buying something non-essential, then the thrill of anticipation, and eventually the wild joy when the products arrived. Due to longer delivery times, I waited for about three weeks for my Sephora shopping haul.
By now I have tried almost all of the products and thought I’d tell my first impressions.
Skin Care Products
OLEHENRIKSEN Banana Bright Eye Crème
I love this eye creme. After I had read so many great reviews, I wanted to try it. And it is just perfect. I use it every morning and evening and the skin around my eyes is definitely well moisturized. It doesn’t burn at all.
The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution
I am a big The Ordinary fan and use many of their products. The value-for-money ratio is superb. This solution is a mask that peels skin really well. It looks funny when I put it on. Because of its red color it almost looks like smeared blood. More importantly though, it peels my skin real fast. I use this mask only one evening per week because the solution is quite strong.
Supergoop! Bright-Eyed 100% Mineral Eye Cream SPF 40
I have become much better with putting on sunscreen every time I leave the house. But normal sunscreen burns when I put it on my eye area. Also, it is not supposed to come anywhere near the eyes. So I ordered this sunscreen eye cream to see if it works better. It totally does! It can be layered. After a few hours I can renew it without problems. It is an inherent part of my handbag now.
Supergoop! Glowscreen Sunscreen SPF 40
This facial sunscreen is also from Supergoop!, just like the eye cream. Another amazing product! I makes my face look dewy because of tiny glimmer particles in the cream. Since I hardly put on any foundation these days, this glowscreen is enough to make my skin look healthy and awake.
Bronzer Products
I blame it on the rainy April and all that time we have to spend inside, but I ordered quite a few bronzer products. Even though I use more sunscreen than ever, I still plan on having the best tan ever this year. Therefore my Sephora shopping haul was very target-oriented of course :-).
Isle of Paradise Over It Magic Self-Tan Eraser
I haven’t used this product yet because the drops (next product) work so well.
Isle of Paradise Self Tanning Drops in Medium (Green)
What a magic little bottle. I mix three drops with my face cream and put it on. A few hours later my face is evenly and wonderfully tanned. The tan fades over the course of several days. I have also used it once on my neck and cleavage. It worked there just as well. No orangey tone, no streaks. These self tanning drops are totally worth their money.
Drunk Elephant D-Bronzi™ Anti-Pollution Sunshine Drops
Another product I haven’t used yet. Also due to the Isle of Paradise drops. But I’ll try it soon to see if the result is in any way different.
Sol de Janeiro Glowmotions Glow Body Oil in Carnaval Queen
I guess the Glowmotions Oil is not a bronzer, but it creates a lovely glow on my skin. Which is almost as good. I have only tried it on my arms once. But once the hot summer is here, I’ll show off my legs and arms with that rosy glow.
Makeup Products
It is not like I needed any makeup products. But they are pretty and I love playing with them. The is the last part of my Sephora shopping haul. So I guess, on the positive side, I didn’t order any shampoos or perfumes.
Lancôme Juicy Tubes Original Lip Gloss in Game Berry
When I was in university, juicy tubes were totally in vogue. At the time they were too expensive for me though. Granted, they are still pricey at $20, but so pretty. And for the sake of the twenty-something in me, I just had to order one tube. Mine is pink and embodies exactly that feeling of being young, reckless, and usually out of money.
Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat Lip Liner in Pillow Talk
I heard so many good things about Pillow Talk that I first ordered the lip liner. As for the lipstick I decided to forego the expensive purchase and went for the NYX dupe I recently read about. The lip liner is great, but I am not yet sure if it is worth its money (as in there are so many cheaper lip liners out there that seem to work just as well).
SEPHORA COLLECTION Retractable Waterproof Eyeliner in Matte Deep Plum & in Matte Charcoal
I can’t remember where, but I read about the Sephora waterproof eyeliners on another blog. They really work well. I have used them several times now and they last the whole day. Even without any other product on my eyes, not even a base. They also stay on the waterline. I highly recommend them. I chose the two colors because I knew they’d make my more grey than blue eyes pop more. But the eyeliner comes in many other colors, too.
NARS Afterglow Eyeshadow Palette
A product that is almost too pretty to use. So far I have only looked at it. The colors are so perfect for the summer. And now that we have to hide our mouth mostly behind masks, the eye makeup can be much more prominent.
Erborian CC Cream Radiance Color Corrector Broad Spectrum SPF25 in Clair
I used up a sample of the CC cream before and loved the result. It makes my facial skin look so even that I don’t need any foundation. This is why I ordered the full size now.
