I know it’s only the end of February, but I can’t wait for spring anymore. Today I saw the first snowdrop buds. Since it’s supposed to be around 10 °C for the rest of the week, I guess we can see the little flower in bloom very soon. Unfortunately, I made the mistake and checked the 16 day weather forecast, which predicts snow from day 14 on. I hope that snow will never arrive here. Seriously, stay away, snow! No, I’m dreaming of the first warm spring days when I can sit outside in the sun, read, drink a cup of coffee. On Sunday I still had coffee inside when I went into Boston to check out the recently opened Eataly. I know this Italian food hall chain from Istanbul where it is in one of the upscale malls. Even though it is quite popular there, I’ve never seen it as crowded as in Boston. I was glad that I even found standing room to drink my cappuccino. In order to work off the stress I felt in the overfilled Eataly, I just had to pay a visit to Sephora.

I find it very relaxing to stroll through the aisles and look at all the beauty products, esp. the new ones. What I like very much about spring 2017 is that there are so many shimmery products in bright colors. Of course the matt and the nude trends are still there, but besides there are so many other results. Having been a teenager in the 1990s, I still love all shimmery and glittery makeup products. This is why I already have a lot of those in my collection at home. For now my favorite beauty products for spring are these:
Dior Diorskin Star in 010 Ivory – The lightest shade is perfect for my pale winter skin. The makeup doesn’t make my skin glisten like Edward in Twilight, but it gives it a healthy glow. I find it great for my combination skin because it covers well and stays put for the whole day.
Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops in Celestial – But sometimes I just want to glow more like the vampires. This is why I bought the Cover FX drops, which I can mix with any foundation. Depending on my mood I highlight just some parts or give my face an overall glow. The product isn’t cheap, but will last me for years.
Bellapierre Mineral Blush in Desert Rose – I have had this blush for several years. I think it was in a Glossybox once. Even though I alternate between blushes, these days I mostly wear this one. It also saves me time because due to it shimmering I can do without a highlighter.
NYX Extreme Shine Eyeliner in Sunrise Blue and Golden Bronze – So far I haven’t had any bad NYX product. They are all great quality. I esp. love the extreme shine eyeliners because they are waterproof and stay where they should for the whole day. The blue one is a little more noticeable, but I like the bronze one just as much.
Revlon Colorburst Lacquer Balm in 135 Provocateur Femme Fatale – I have several great Revlon lip products, mostly because there are often special offers in my drugstore. This bright red balm is a mix between a lipstick and a balm. The color stays for hours and moisturizes my lips at the same time.
MAC Cremesheen Glass Lip Gloss in Throw a Spare – This Barbie like lip gloss is a souvenir from Las Vegas. I hardly ever buy MAC products anymore because they are overpriced in my opinion. But then I saw this shocking pink gloss and it was on sale. In reality the gloss is rather sheer, but on top of a matt pink lipstick it looks amazing.
Smashbox Be Legendary Liquid Metal in Mauve Squad – This is one is new. As in: I bought it in Sephora on Sunday. Oh how I love metal colored lipsticks! I think I might still have an ancient one from Manhattan from when I was a teenager. But this liquid Smashbox one is even better because it’s got a wet finish.
Are you looking forward to spring? What are your favorite makeup products right now?
