My desk: From where I blog

Besides my bed my desk is probably the most important piece of furniture I own. I had my last desk for seven years and I really loved it because it consisted of two glass tops. Unfortunately I had to leave it in Europe. Now I have got a simple desk from Ikea, well, it is actually only a table which I could choose the top and the legs for. At least it is right next to the window, and as long as the cat doesn’t sleep on it, I am even able to work there.

I actually use this desk in my room mainly for blogging and to do private tasks. There is another desk in school which I work at. There I try to get as many professional tasks done as possible in my forty working hours per week. In comparison my desk at home is pretty empty, but that is also because I clear it about once every week. I am afraid I tend to pile up books and mail there when I don’t need them at that moment. But I need the desk to be empty because I also often take my blog photos there as there is daylight coming through three windows. Besides, I can hardly live without my desk calendar and my blog planner which is why they belong there. I can plan things a lot better when using paper.

What I absolutely love is my Ikea charger, with which I can charge my smartphone wirelessly. I find this very convenient because I showed some great talent before when I broke the port cover flap of my Galaxy S5. Okay, I as able to order a replacement and installed it myself. But it is nothing I want to do again.

By the way, I have only worked on my laptop since last July. Before I always had a PC and a big monitor. And to be honest: I miss the latter one very much. I think I need at least a monitor in the long run. But now I first must buy other furniture, and shift my desk because I will move into the room of my still-roommate, which is a little bigger.

But because I sometimes need more space and I also like to work in other places, I go to the Boston Impact Hub on Monday evenings. That is some kind of open-plan office – just cooler. The next time I go there I will take pictures and show them to you.
