So much for my goal to blog more regularly. But the last few weeks were slightly insane and I needed the first week of spring break to catch up on sleep and relaxation. I managed at least to be more active on Instagram, even though that is still not the same as writing longer texts. But I just couldn’t find the time to. So here I am sitting now, at my boyfriend’s desk in the middle of Manhattan, and finally tell you, my blog readers, what I already published on Instagram a few weeks ago when it was foreseeable that I wouldn’t have time to write a blog post:
Jana and Canavar move to New York City this summer.
To be precise, on 1 July and to Manhattan. And this is why: My boyfriend moved from Boston to New York City last year and we knew that it would be hard to have a long distance relationship over a longer amount of time because both our jobs are demanding. He couldn’t even change his present job. But I could. Well kind of. I am in the U.S. on a J1 visa, which is an exchange visa and only allows me to have the specific job that is written on the visa. I can’t take any job that I might want to. There was only one exception: I could transfer to a job that has very same description as my current one and is under the same sponsorship program. To make a very long story short – I managed to get the only job available and am soon going to join my boyfriend in the city. Canavar and I are moving once more. Yay. Or not so much yay because none of us likes moving, but we are unbelievably happy. Over the months, my boyfriend and I only saw each other every four to five weeks, with the exception of my vacations. I can’t wait to see him so much more. Oh, and Canavar will be extremely pleased when he has two humans to look after him again. Two can openers are better than one, right?
We now plan to move in together and live somewhere in Manhattan because 1) he works here, 2) I can commute from here to my future work place, and 3) how cool is it to live in Manhattan?! Unfortunately, it is still too early to look for apartments now, but I’ll keep you posted. At least we still have another two months to find some nice one bedroom apartment. I am working in my current job until Friday, 28 June, and then I am moving immediately on the following weekend. I fear that those weeks will be quite stressful. I guess it was good that I didn’t even unpack all boxes, esp. the ones full of books, last summer and can now easily carry them out of the basement. Despite all the moving stuff, I am delirious with joy to soon live together with my boyfriend and my cat. I dare say great times are coming.

Congratulations!
It’s sounds really good.
I am looking forward to read more about your life in NYC. 🙂
By the way I attend a language school in Leipzig (again) to refresh my English. Therefore I hope that I can comment more in English on your blog. 🙂
My current teacher ist from USA and it’s quite funny that he don’t know each British English word.
Liebe Grüße
Myriam
That sounds great, Myriam! I hope I actually don’t make too many mistakes 🙂
