Do you need a last-minute Halloween cake? Or just

Do you need a last-minute Halloween cake? Or just a because-it's-Thursday cake? 🎃🎂

It took me about an hour total (with a break to let the cake cool) to make my two layer Pumpkin Spice Halloween Cake. You most likely have all the ingredients (see last slide) already at home. 👻🍬

Btw, I used the leftovers from leveling my cakes for the cake pops. And I also enjoyed just drawing faces on the marshmallows with sugar writing gel. 👀

🥣 Here are the steps:
1. Prepare your cake tins. I used two 17cm round silicone baking molds. Preheat oven to 180°C (or 360°F).

2. Combine all the ingredients for the cakes in a big bowl. Whisk until well combined. Divide the batter between the cake tins.

3. Bake for about 40 minutes. Remove from the oven and leave to cool for 10 minutes. Then take the cakes out and put them on a wire rack to let them cool out completely.

4. For the ghosts, melt the chocolate in the microwave or over a pan of simmering water. Stir regularly. Use baking parchment or a silicone mat: spoon a teaspoon of melted chocolate onto the mat, then drag the spoon through it to shape the ghost. Repeat with the rest of your chocolate, then let it rest to harden. Use writing gel to draw on eyes and mouths.

5. For the icing, beat the cream cheese and butter in a bowl. Slowly add the vanilla and powdered sugar. Beat it all until fluffy. Color with orange food coloring (I used yellow and red ones and mixed my preferred shade).

6. When the cakes are fully cooled, level them (if necessary). Put one cake on a plate, add some icing, and spread from the middle to the edges. Put the second cake on top. Spread the icing evenly over the whole cake. Carefully press the chocolate ghosts into the icing. Add sprinkles if you want to.
