Week in review: 8 – 14 June 2020

First of all, the most exciting thing that happened this week was that our wedding announcement was published on t h e wedding page of the Sunday New York Times: The Future Seen in a Cat Food Bowl. When I convinced Rich to apply in late February, I didn’t think our chances were good, but we ended up in my favorite newspaper. Plus Canavar is mentioned, too. How cool is it that my beloved cat is named in the NYTimes?! Well, and us, of course. We get the paper delivered every Friday to Sunday, but also bought several more issues yesterday to share with our families.

Besides, the week was not that exciting. The school year is coming to a close which is why I have to finish several tasks, mainly grading. I need more short naps than before because I do everything on my screen and it leaves me knackered. Yes, it is great to use a touchscreen and grade all exams on my laptop, not using any paper. But my eyes get tired and sore.

On the other hand, New York City is in opening phase 1. Although it is not sure if that is going to last as Covid-19 cases all over the country are spreading again. At least here in Midtown not much has changed. Most cafes, restaurants and shops are still closed. A few of the open cafes put chairs and tables out on the sidewalk over the weekend. I believe more construction zones have reopened for work again.  And there seem to be some more cars in the street. Everybody still wears their mask. So that is definitely good. Let’s see how it all goes.
