Week in review: 26 September – 2 October 2016

Recently I surprise myself because I am out so much more often than I used to. I go to many cultural events, be it readings, concerts, or the opera last week. When I read on Instagram last night that there would be an unoffical meetup of the Boston Portrait group today, I immediately decided to go. Thus I spent the whole afternoon taking photos in Downtown Boston and I chatted to many nice people. I’ve never really dared taking portraits before because I am to shy to ask strangers in the street. At the meeting today it was kind of easy since some people love to model for all the photographers. Neither am I the type of person who opens up at once and talks to a big group of people I don’t know. I’d rather hide in a corner and watch everyone for some time before slowly approaching them. But it is much easier talking to people when you already have a common hobby. And today was great fun. I’ll definitely try to go to the next, official, meetup.

So far it doesn’t look as if I’ll be any less active soon. Hibernation is postponed for now. It feels good to do so many things, to go out there and get to know new people and places, to sing along with Jake Bugg, to learn about trains in the US, to voluntarily hike with friends, etc. It feels good to step out of my comfort zone, to do so many different things, and then to come home eventually and be grateful for everything. This could become a really good and diverse fall after all.
