Week in review: 23 – 29 October 2017

This week didn’t start well for me. I had a strong allergic reaction at the end of last week and had to stay at home for two days. In contrast to most people, my allergy season starts in fall, and my sinuses become awefully infected. Despite tests I don’t know what I am actually allergic to (although for the first time ever I have an idea and will pursue that). But at least I know by now that antihistamines, a nasal spray, nasal douches, and rest are all I need. No more antibiotics. Instead I slept for 20 hours each on Monday and Tuesday. Can you imagine how happy Canavar was that we slept next to each other for about the same amount of hours?

By the time I was able to leave the house again on Wednesday morning, I wasn’t totally well – but in the U.S. where you have only a very limited amount of sick days per year, you just don’t stay at home any longer as soon as you can stand upright again. I somehow made it through the week, and I have overcome the allergy. This makes me particularly happy because it is the first time ever that I consequently fought it and by doing so didn’t end up with a frontal sinusitis, antibiotics, and at least a week of bedrest. And then today, on top of everything good, I wanted to change the bandaid of my index finger and realized that the scab had finally come off. The skin is still very thin and the finger tip feels weird, but after a little more than six weeks I don’t need bandaids anymore. Woohoo!
