2015 End of year review

When I look back at last year, I realize that it was overall simply brilliant. In the heat of the moment I sometimes forget this, e.g. when it becomes really stressful or something goes totally wrong. But that last year went very well except for few exceptional situations, and that was a real blessing after my cursed 2014.

2015 was a perfect travel year

Already in January I went to New York City and Boston. In contrast to almost everybody else I knew that I had gotten a job and would move there in the course of the year. But I then told everyone in February, and from then on I officially prepared for my big move. But I also wanted to visit many places in Turkey so that I flew to Cappadocia for Easter and visited all the great and famous caves and underground cities. My most beautiful trip took place in May when I drove through Eastern Turkey within four days – from Kars to Van. I can’t say which place is the most amazing one because the whole region is so wonderful. I also got to go to Gallipoli, together with my last school because every year they go there to commemorate students who were killed there during the First World War. Besides, I went to Trabzon, Uzungöl and Sümela Monastery for my birthday.

In fall more great trips followed in the US. First I went with friends to a pretty wooden house at a lake in Maine, then with students to the White Mountains in New Hampshire. In the end I even spent a whole weekend in New York City.

I went back to Istanbul during my Christmas break, and right now I’m sitting at the airport waiting for my flight back to the US.

Was 2015 so schiefgegangen ist

What went wrong in 2015

The cat: first he disappeared for a whole week and turned up again being very dirty. Then he bit me when I took a walk with him outside, and I ended up in the emergency room. In December I thought Canavar might suffer from cancer, but that turned out to be a false alarm. I can never be angry with my cat, no matter what he does. But when I had to search for a new moving company two weeks before my moving, I got really mad.  Besides, I was angry at the Turkish Airlines hotline, which I had to talk to for several hours in spring and early summer, until I knew for sure that I could take the cat with me on the plane. Then nothing happened for a long time … until somebody stole my debit card last week and withdrew all the money from my bank account (the whole story will be up here soon).

Was ich 2015 besonders geliebt habe

What I loved especially about 2015

The cat of course and my travels. And when my moving was finished. I absolutely enjoyed the summer in Boston and went for the first time to a 1920s party. Besides I got to know many nice people and found new friends, who I also celebrated Thanksgiving with amongst other things. I also got a great package from dear Mascha from Australia.

And what will happen in 2016?

Several journeys are actually planned, for instance in summer I will go on a big trip to visit my friend in South Africa. I hope that I will settle down more in Cambridge, and thus my everyday life will be less and less stressful. Next week my second ballet course starts, too. Else, I like to take pot luck and simply hope that 2016 will become an even better year.
